The greater number of foreign submissions, the Editor remarks, came from Ireland; some of the contributions were from poets not usually graced with collections, but who write wonderfully. See, for instance, Margaret Galvin’s contribution, and that of Eoin Scolard. Möbius has been going for nigh onto 25 years. Let’s hope it gets another quarter-century. April, Juanita will teach creative writing to high school students in Long Island. This is the second part of a series in which she previously taught middle school children. April 6, Juanita Torrence-Thompson was PRINCIPAL FOR A DAY at The Nostrand School, Brooklyn, NY. The children, (grades 3-5) honored her with an assembly where they recited her poetry and sang and danced to her poem “The Picnic Game” from her book Celebrating a Tapestry of Life. JTT read 3 poems, was honored with a plaque, read in the Reading Den, visited classrooms and answered students questions. She later wrote a poem dedicated to the students and staff of The Nostrand School. March 22, (6-8 pm) Juanita Torrence-Thompson read her poetry at Borough Hall when Borough President of Queens, Helen Marshall, bestowed awards to 15 “Heroic Women of Queens” during Women’s History Month.
